External Sounders

Texecom external sounders give installers wired, wireless, backlit and dummy options for visible external alarm signalling. The range covers active sounders for audible and visual warning, wireless models for cleaner upgrades, dummy units for visible deterrence and Odyssey X covers for branded finishes. Choose by grade, wiring route, required signalling and how the unit needs to look on the building.

Where external sounders fit

An external sounder has to be seen, heard and protected. It acts as a deterrent before an alarm event and provides clear warning when the system activates. It also needs tamper protection because it is mounted outside and exposed by design.

Use wired sounders where cable routes are practical and fixed power is preferred. Use wireless where the site is finished, the route is difficult or the upgrade needs less disruption. Use dummy sounders where visible deterrence is required but active electronics are not needed at that position.

Finish also matters. Odyssey X cover options support lens choices, backlighting and graphic inserts, helping installers deliver a sounder that looks like part of the system, not an afterthought.

Frequently Asked Questions

When should I choose Odyssey X-D?

Choose X-D when the site needs visible deterrence only and does not need active sounder electronics, comfort LEDs or backlight at that position.

How is X-D different from X-BD?

X-D has no electronics. X-BD adds support for backlight and comfort LEDs.

Does X-D make sound?

No. It is an imitation sounder. Use an active Odyssey X sounder where audible alarm signalling is required.

Can X-D match the rest of the Odyssey X range?

Yes. It accepts X1 and X3 covers, so it can match active Odyssey X units on the same site.

What is the installer benefit?

It keeps the external finish consistent without adding unnecessary electronics. Fit the right product for the job. No extras where they are not needed.
