Premier External TD-W

Premier External TD-W is a wireless outdoor PIR detector for perimeter movement detection.

It is built for sites where the detector needs to be outside, but running cable to the correct position is not practical. The wireless design helps installers place the detector where it performs properly, rather than where the cable route happens to work.

With selectable range, 90 degree coverage and non-overlapping twin mirrored PIR optics, it gives installers a practical wireless option for gates, driveways, approaches, external doors and perimeter routes.

Key Details:

  • Detection Type: Wireless outdoor PIR detector
  • Optics: Non-overlapping twin mirrored PIR optics
  • Range: Selectable 12m, 8m, 5m or 2m range
  • Coverage: 90 degree coverage, rotatable through 180 degrees
  • Mounting Height: 1.0m to 1.4m, 1.2m nominal
  • Colour Options: White GBW-0002, Black GBW-0001

Premier External TD-W

Wireless detection where cable gets in the way

Premier External TD-W is for outdoor detection points where the detector position matters, but wiring is difficult.

That could be a driveway, gate approach, external door, side path, outbuilding route or perimeter area where running cable would add disruption or cost. Wireless gives the installer more freedom to place the detector where the coverage works.

Outdoor PIR detection with controlled range

The detector provides selectable range settings of 12m, 8m, 5m or 2m.

That matters outside. More range is not always better. The right setting is the lowest range that protects the area properly. It reduces unnecessary exposure to movement beyond the target area.

Built for outdoor conditions

Premier External TD-W is weather resistant and designed for external use.

The detector should be mounted perpendicular to the ground, at 1.0m to 1.4m high, with 1.2m as the nominal height. Avoid direct sunlight, swaying bushes, washing lines, reflective surfaces and areas where the detection zone is not properly terminated.

Wireless still needs proper commissioning

Wireless solves the cable route. It does not remove the need for correct setup.

The device should be learned to the system before mounting. The installer still needs to check wireless communication, range, sensitivity, pulse count, walk test results and final detection performance.

When Premier External TD-W makes sense

Use Premier External TD-W when the site needs outdoor movement detection and cabling the detector position is impractical.

If a cable route is available and fixed power is preferred, Premier External TD is the wired option. If the area needs internal detection rather than external perimeter detection, specify from the Capture range instead.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Where should Premier External TD-W be installed?

Install it where the detector can protect a clear external route, such as a gate, driveway, side path, external door or perimeter approach. The detection area should be controlled and ideally terminated by a building, fence or other fixed boundary.

What causes false alarms on outdoor PIR detectors?

Common causes include direct sunlight, swaying plants, washing lines, reflective surfaces, standing water, swimming pools and range set too far for the area. The fix is not guesswork. Reduce the range, choose the position properly and walk test the detector.

What range should I set on Premier External TD-W?

Use the lowest range that protects the area properly. The detector can be set to 12m, 8m, 5m or 2m. Setting 12m by default can expose the detector to unnecessary outdoor movement.

When should I choose Premier External TD-W instead of Premier External TD?

Choose TD-W when cabling is not practical or would compromise the finish. Choose the wired Premier External TD when cable routes are available and fixed power is preferred.

Does the wireless version still need installer testing?

Yes. Learn the device to the system before mounting, then test wireless signal, tamper operation, range, sensitivity and coverage. Wireless makes the install cleaner. It does not replace commissioning.
